Samha Greenhouse Abu Dhabi
A Free Glass House in the Middle of Abu Dhabi — and Almost Nobody Knows About It
Samha Greenhouse is one of those places that feels like a secret even after you have been there. A sprawling government-run glass structure just off the E11 highway, about 45 minutes from Dubai, filled with tropical plants, fruit varieties like pineapple and plantain, vegetable patches, aquaponic systems, and waterfalls and ponds that greet you at the entrance. It is completely free, fully air-conditioned, and calm in a way that is genuinely rare for a UAE attraction. For families with babies or toddlers it is ideal — low sensory, stroller-friendly, and just enough to look at that small children stay curious without getting overwhelmed.
We love it as a quick nature fix on the way to or from Abu Dhabi — a 45-minute wander through greenery that feels nothing like the desert outside. Open Sunday to Thursday, 7:30am to 2:30pm. Closed Friday and Saturday.
Insider tip: the greenhouse is beautifully lit up after dark — if you happen to be passing in the evening it is worth a stop just to see it from the outside.
