A Living Storybook in Al Khawaneej — and Almost Everything Is Free

Quranic Park in Al Khawaneej is one of those places that surprises you every time. Sixty hectares of free gardens, orchards, walking paths, cycling tracks, playgrounds, and a beautiful lake — and that is before you step inside the Glass House, which is the real highlight. A climate-controlled dome growing all 29 plants mentioned in the Quran, from olive trees and pomegranates to date palms and figs, each explained with display boards covering their Quranic significance and medicinal uses. It feels like stepping into a living storybook. Entry is just AED 5 per person by Nol card, under 3s free.

The Cave of Miracles is worth adding on — an immersive indoor experience where the stories of seven prophets come to life through interactive displays. Tickets are AED 15 per person. The park is open daily from 8am to 10pm, with the Glass House and Cave of Miracles opening at 9am Sunday to Thursday and from 3pm on Fridays.

Insider tip: go in the early morning or after 6pm — the evening light on the lake and gardens is worth staying for.
