From the Big Bang to Dinosaurs — Two Hours That Fly By

The Sharjah Natural History Museum is one of those places that surprises you with how good it is. Part of Sharjah Desert Park on Al Dhaid Road, the museum takes you on a journey from the Big Bang all the way through to today's local wildlife — meteorites, dinosaurs, fossils, prehistoric forests, and an enchanting indoor botanical garden that feels completely unexpected in the middle of a natural history museum. We spent around two hours wandering through the thoughtfully designed rooms, stopping at interactive stations and short film clips along the way. The massive meteorites and the prehistoric forest were the highlights for us — genuinely impressive in a way that holds the attention of children and adults equally.

Outside the museum there is a park with a playground, perfect for a picnic in the cooler months. One ticket covers all four venues at Sharjah Desert Park — the Natural History Museum, [Arabia's Wildlife Centre], the Botanical Garden, and the Children's Farm — and is valid for two months. Entry is AED 15 for adults, AED 5 for children over 12, free for under-12s. Open Saturday to Wednesday 9am to 5:30pm, Thursday 11am to 5:30pm, Friday 2pm to 5:30pm. Closed Tuesdays. Cash only.
