The Resort That Makes Choosing Where to Eat the Hardest Decision of Your Day

JA Beach Resort is one of those places Dubai families have been coming back to for decades, and once you arrive it is obvious why. Three hotels — the Beach Hotel, Palm Tree Court, and the newer Lake View — spread across a stretch of Jebel Ali coastline with four pools, a splash park, a private beach, horseback riding, watersports, a golf course, a marina, and an adults-only beach club for when you genuinely need a moment to yourself. The kids' club takes children aged 4 to 12 for an hourly fee, which means everyone gets what they actually want from a resort stay.

What I did not expect was the birds. Near the horse stables, the resort quietly cares for a collection of wild birds — some being nursed back to health, some in training for release, some working birds for shows. The trainers are passionate and love talking about them. It is one of those details you stumble across and end up spending an hour at without planning to, which is exactly the kind of thing that makes a resort feel like more than just pools and sunbeds.

The rooms are on the smaller side compared to newer Dubai properties, but comfortable and well set up for families — sea view rooms look out over the pools and beach, and the garden villas sit in the kind of lush greenery that does not feel like it should exist this close to the city.

Insider tip: the three hotels share all facilities, so wherever you stay you have access to everything. Palm Tree Court is the quietest and closest to the beach — worth requesting if you are travelling with very small children.
